Fuel Cell
Interface
The Fuel
Cell Interface will allow you to completely
characterize the performance of a reversible PEM
fuel cell. This high precision instrument comes
equipped with a 12-bit A/D converter for highly
accurate current and voltage measurements with
loads down to 0.1 ohm. With your solar panel or
other voltage source connected, you can plot and
log input and output
voltage,
current and
power in real time.
Simply push and hold the red button to begin
charging the fuel cell, and witness the
characteristic charge cycle as shown below on
the left. After releasing the red button the
fuel cell will begin its discharge cycle (center
of plot), the rate of which is dependent on the
applied. load.

All relevant materials are
supplied including a 6' RS-232 to USB serial
cable, StampPlot graphical software (above) and
a User Manual on CD-ROM. 9-volt battery, fuel
cell and external power source not included.
Students can create plots of the fuel cell and
solar data like that above. These plots can be
saved as graphic files for inclusion into
student reports or be printed out to take home
to show parents. This plotting software also has
the capability to log data for inclusion into
spreadsheets.
The Fuel Cell Interface
is compatible with a wide variety of miniature
fuel cells, many of which can be found in our
Fuel Cell Gallery.
